Water Education
Public understanding of water's properties and characteristics, water-related issues, and how scientific information contributes to water management is basic to solving present and future water challenges. Unfortunately, most people are only vaguely aware of the roles water plays in their lives and our dependence on sufficient quantities of good quality water.
The long-term challenge is to help people become water literate. Our goal is to help educate citizens on these topics. The intent is to provide information that will lead to an understanding of how to wisely use water to meet human, fish, wildlife and other needs. Such understandings have simple background beginnings. For a child, these beginnings constitute play with water. For an adult, these beginnings consist of an awareness of people-water relationships in their everyday environment.
