The ADF&G Sport Fish Division stocks a variety of fish species into lakes and streams throughout the state during the open water season. Rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, Arctic char, lake trout and landlocked coho and chinook salmon, raised in the states two Anchorage area fish hatcheries, are stocked in many of the southcentral and interior lakes. In addition coho and chinook salmon smolt are released into several streams to return in subsequent years.

  • Can I find out when fish are going to be stocked?
No, the schedule is based on when the fish are ready and what the most efficient transport means is available. Therefore, the schedule is adjusted daily. To determine about when a particular location is going to be stocked, look at the previous years data. Locations are stocked at approximately the same time each year.

  • To get maps of our stocked lakes see our Stocked Lakes Maps page.

  • Check out the Recreational Boating and Angler Access Program web site and see how the department is enhancing your fishing experience at many stocking locations.

  • You can use one of the two searches above to find out what has been stocked. Our stocking database is updated at least once a week (Thursday or Friday) during the stocking season.
