COMMENTS WANTED ON SPORT FISHING BUSINESS/GUIDE LICENSING AND LOGBOOK PROGRAM

Juneau – The Alaska Department of Fish and Game invites sport fishing business owners, guides, and others interested in the sport fishing business and guide licensing program to meet with staff to review the 2005 program and discuss possible changes for 2006.

The business and guide licensing program, including new fresh water logbooks and modified saltwater logbooks, was implemented for the first time in 2005 after House Bill 452 became law and new regulations were adopted by the Board of Fisheries. Division of Sport Fish managers will be developing license forms and fresh- and saltwater logbooks for the 2006 season during fall 2005. The Division is seeking input from operators and public now, as the 2005 season nears its end, to incorporate into the 2006 program.

The Division of Sport Fish has scheduled meetings in Southeast Alaska communities as follows:

Sitka: September 7, 6:30 p.m. Harrigan Centennial Hall
Juneau: September 27, 7:00 p.m. Aspen Hotel
Ketchikan: September 29, 7:00 p.m. ADF&G Conference Room

For more information about the meetings, contact the nearest ADF&G Division of Sport Fish office.
