DESHKA RIVER KING SALMON SEASON EXTENDED THROUGH JULY 31
The Deshka River king salmon season has been extended by approximately two weeks, from July 14 to July 31. The season extension applies to the Deshka River from its mouth upstream to an ADF&G marker located near the Fish and Game cabin at River Mile 2, and all waters of the Susitna River within a one-half mile radius of the Deshka River confluence.
King salmon returns to the Deshka River have been above the escapement goal range for the past six years, and the 2005 king salmon return is above the upper end of the escapement goal as well. Over 34,000 king salmon have been counted past the weir, which is 6,000 over the upper end of the escapement goal range of 13,000 to 28,000.
Increasing the king salmon season on the Deshka River will provide additional opportunity for sport anglers wishing to extend their king salmon season. All other regulations for the Deshka River remain in effect.
