FIRST HOMER SPIT FISHING HOLE YOUTH FISHING DAY, SATURDAY, JUNE 4

A portion of the Homer Spit Fishing Hole will be open to fishing only by youths 15 years of age and younger on Saturday, June 4, from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.  The youth-only fishing area will be posted.  Division of Sport Fish staff will be on hand to assist, and some fishing gear will be available for use by kids.  The remainder of the Fishing Hole will be open to fishing for anglers of any age.

All other sport fishing regulations remain in effect for the Homer Spit Fishing Hole.  The bag and possession limit is 2 king salmon per day of any size.  Each youth 15 and under must have a free harvest record card while fishing the Homer Spit Fishing Hole, and harvested king salmon 20 inches and greater in length must be recorded on the harvest record card immediately, in ink.  The seasonal limit during April 1 through September 31 is 5 king salmon.  The Fishing Hole is closed to snagging until further notice.

Youth fisheries were established by the Alaska State Legislature and implemented by the Alaska Board of Fisheries to provide special opportunity for young people to catch fish. Youth fishing days at the Homer Spit Fishing Hole are also scheduled for Saturday, August 6, and Saturday, August 20, 2005.
